I like chicken pot pies, however I LOVE this steak pot pie recipe. Steak pot pie is sure to please any carnivore in your family. Ha!
Southern Steak Pot Pie
3 medium potatoes
2 Tbsp. butter (divided)
1/2 cup onion (diced)
1 cup peas & carrots (frozen)
1 Tbsp. oil
1 lb. thin steak (cut in strips)
1/3 cup steak sauce
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 Tbsp. flour
1 can beef broth
2 pastry pie shells
1 egg (beaten)
dash salt & pepper
Cook potatoes in water until tender. Drain; season with 1 Tbsp. butter, salt & pepper. Set aside. While the potatoes are cooking; in a skillet, sauté the onion, peas & carrots in 1 Tbsp. of butter until tender. Set aside. Also, at the same time in another skillet, sauté the steak in oil until done. Add the steak sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt & pepper. Mix well. Add the flour & mix well. Add the beef broth. Mix well. Add the cooked potatoes & veggie mixture to the steak mixture. Simmer 5 minutes until liquid starts to thicken. Meanwhile, line a 9 inch deep pie pan with one of the pie shells. Scoop steak & veggie mixture in to the crust. Place the remaining pie crust on top of mixture. Fold & crimp crust. Slit crust to vent. Brush some of the egg on top of the crust. In a preheated oven bake pot pie at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes or till the crust is golden brown.
